Did you know gas prices are increasing?

Asides

CNN breathlessly reports today that gas prices hit a record high. I’m curious what the point of these stories is. Do they have the same reporter write every story? Does he just plug in the new statistics and file it away? Everyone knows gas prices are going up. Why bother telling us over and over?
