My Wasteful Spending List

Republicans have released their list of what they deem as “wasteful” spending in the near-$900 billion stimulus bill that is working its way through Congress.

All totaled, the waste list roughly adds up to about $25 billion or so.

I’ll freely admit that a lot of the projects listed in here seem frivolous, like giving $850 million to Amtrak, the least-effective and efficient transportation company in the history of mankind, including camels.  The tax break for Hollywood producers is  eyebrow-raising, as is the cost for new furniture at the new Department of Homeland Security headquarters.

But with all that said, I just felt like pointing out that all of this “wasteful” spending, in total, pales in comparison to the cost of the Iraq War, which is currently running at:
